The Sunday morning service normally opens with singing, Scripture reading or prayer. This is usually followed by the song service. At Christian Life, our song service is a mix of contemporary Christian favorites and traditional hymns. Following or sometimes during the song service the congregation will join in prayer and worship to God. There is also a time of offering, where tithes and offerings are collected, and a time of announcements and review of the weekly bulletin.
At some point there will be corporate prayer where the church prays for the needs of the congregation. This is usually led by one of the pastors. The sick may be annointed with oil and prayed for at this time.
Following prayer is typically when the pastor gives a sermon taken from Scriptures. Preaching in the Assemblies of God can best be described as dynamic, as the Holy Spirit is given freedom to move and set the spiritual tone of the service.
After the sermon, a time of dedication and prayer takes place. There may be an alter call for those who would like to accept Christ as their Savior, or to pray for needs and concerns in their lives.
